Workshops & Hands-on Activities
Each year’s activities include a variety of workshops,
eclectic music, nightly bonfires and diverse rituals. Emphasis is being placed
on creative, hands-on crafts and art projects designed to encourage the
development of mind, body, and spirit.
Elemental Workshops & Rituals (daily): All elemental workshops will be scheduled at 1:15 p.m. and the rituals will start at 8:30 p.m. This year, we honor Air (Yellow) on Monday, Fire (Red) on Tuesday, Water (Blue) on Wednesday, Earth (Green) on Thursday, and Spirit (White) on Friday. Saturday's Celebration will continue to be a culmination of the week's activities involving each element and sending off our Messenger (Dragon). People are encouraged to dress in the colors representing the element of each day.
The Messenger takes the form of a Dragon. The Thunderbird is representing our strength when we “come together” as a community. It also symbolizes change and in some Native American cultures the three tail feathers represent the past, present and future.

More About
Sirius Rising
Sirius Rising has been an event cherished by festival attendees for years. Many good people have contributed to its success and growing popularity. In 2005, we began to refine the focus of Sirius Rising while keeping well known traditions. Participation and hands-on activities within a community setting is a major emphasis of the festival. The elements (earth, air, fire, water, spirit) are honored through workshops and rituals each day. Everyone is encouraged to be involved. Saturday's Celebration is a culmination of the week's activities integrating each element and sending off our Messenger.
In 2005, the Messenger (effigy) took the form of a Minotaur,
which was burned to send forth our good intentions and to release the
negativity that binds us. The theme was "Restoring the Balance" In 2006, the Messenger took the form of
a
In addition to workshops and nightly rituals, the elements
are being honored by creating permanent shrines around the property at
Brushwood. A labyrinth site was established in 2005 and more activities are
planned this year to continue to develop it.
In 2006 and 2007, Sirius Rising incorporated the American Arts Body Festival. Both
years we hosted a huge body painting extravaganza put on by Scott and Madelyn
resulting in a new Guinness World Record in 2007! The most bodies painted is
264 according to Guinness.
Congratulations to all those who participated!
